Smart Mold, spin-off of the University of Padua, a company owned by the Sirmax Group, was awarded as an Innovative Startup, among those with the highest potential, by the Clean Tech Commission of Unicredit Start Lab, for having developed and patented a treatment of the surface of the moulds that allows to reduce the injection pressure, facilitating the filling of the cavities. It is a technique that facilitates the moulding of post-consumer recycled plastic, which by its very nature has a higher and variable viscosity than virgin, and allows to reduce the thickness of plastic components with savings of raw material used. Together with Smart Mold, Unicredit Start Lab has also awarded Serranova, which designs and builds technological greenhouses, and GES (Green Energy Storage), a Trentino start-up that has designed and developed an innovative 'flow battery for energy storage.
